Louisa Thompson

Finance Director

Louisa joined Aquila in February 2023. As Finance Director she has a strong focus on strategy to maximise revenue, profitability analysis, and tight cash management. She provides strategic direction, challenge, and business insight. Louisa has over 20 years of experience leading finance teams, across multiple industries, with finance business partnering at the heart.

After graduating from the University of Liverpool, with a BA in Geography, she began her career as an auditor in practice, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2003. From then, she enjoyed 12 years in a multi-national technology company, where she worked in a variety of roles from core Accounting, Finance and Planning, Commercial Management, spending the last 4 years leading the finance team for a large portfolio of contacts within the outsourcing division.

Wanting a complete change of pace and experience, she joined an online retail sports brand in 2015 as the Head of Finance Business Partnering, during a time of dramatic change, building a team who provided challenge, support and insight across the business, during a period of dramatic change including an ERP implementation and the merging of two businesses.

Since then, she has led finance teams across Leisure and Defence long-term contracts in large international businesses.
Louisa gets the very best out of her team, peers and colleagues through encouragement and providing clarity and focus. She leads teams with a vision to continuously improve processes and outputs with a balance of clear direction and curiosity. In her spare time, Louisa loves SUP boarding, adores disappearing into a good book, going on long coastal dog walks and enjoys many adventures with her family.
